How to use it

  1. 01

Set your tables and how many seats each one holds. Round tables of 8 to 10 are the usual starting point.

  2. 02

Paste your guest list: one name per line, or comma-separated straight out of a spreadsheet.

  3. 03

Drag a name onto a table by the handle beside it, or tap the name, and every table offers a “Seat here” button. Drag a seated guest to another table to move them, and tap the × to send them back to the pool.

  4. 04

Seat the difficult tables first: divorced parents, the work friends who know nobody, and the table nearest the band.

  5. 05

Download the CSV and send it to your venue, caterer, or calligrapher.

Questions couples ask

How do you make a wedding seating chart?
Start from the room, not the list: place the tables you actually have, then seat the hardest groups first, family with history, guests who know no one, and anyone who needs to be near an exit or away from a speaker. Fill the easy tables last, when you can see what is left.
How many guests fit at a wedding table?
Eight to ten at a 60-inch round, ten to twelve at a 72-inch round, and eight to ten per long banquet table depending on the head-table setup. Your venue's floor plan is the final word. Ask before you commit to a count.
Do you need assigned seats at a wedding?
For a seated dinner, yes. Open seating turns twenty minutes of dinner service into a scramble. Assigning tables rather than individual seats is enough for most weddings; assign specific seats only for the head table and any table with a delicate mix.
When should the seating chart be finished?
About a week before the wedding, after your RSVP deadline has passed and you have chased the stragglers. Expect to redo two tables in the final days. That is normal, which is why this tool keeps your plan editable.
Is this seating chart planner really free?
Yes, with no account and no email required. Your plan is stored only in your own browser and the CSV export is yours to keep.

The seating chart is easier when the RSVPs are real

Simplyweds asks each household to confirm the exact names you invited, with a dietary note beside each person who is coming, so the list you seat from is the list that shows up.
